6. Rotate the large FMS knob on the MFD to highlight the FPL field and then rotate the small FMS
knob to select REMAINING FPL then press the ENT key on the MFD.
7. Rotate the large FMS knob on the MFD to highlight the DIAMETER / RTE WIDTH field and
then rotate the small FMS knob to select 100NM then press the ENT key on the MFD.
8. Rotate the large FMS knob on the MFD to highlight the AUTO REQUEST UPDATE RATE field
and then rotate the small FMS knob to select OFF then press the ENT key on the MFD.
9. Rotate the large FMS knob on the MFD to highlight the SEND REQ button and then press the
ENT key on the MFD.
10. Verify that REQUEST STATUS field indicates “Contacting GFDS” and then indicates “OK”
when the request is complete.
NOTE
It may be necessary to repeat the request to observe a successful GFDS
Weather update.
11. On the MFD, press the FMS knob to close the GFDS Data Request window.

GSA 81 Servo
Original GSA 81 Reinstalled:
No software or configuration loading is required if the original GSA 81 is reinstalled. This does not
include units that were returned for repair as their software and configuration files are deleted during the
repair testing process. Continue to Section 7.11.2 if the original unit with no repairs was reinstalled.
Continue to Section 7.11.1 for repaired or exchanged units.
New, Repaired or Exchanged GSA 81 Installed:
If a new, repaired, or exchange GSA is installed, install software and gain files. Continue to the software
and gain loading procedure.
7.11.1 GSA 81 Software and Gain File Loading
If a new, repaired or exchanged GSA 81 is installed the correct software and gain files must be loaded.
Determine if a GSM 85 or GSM 86 servo mount is also installed in the aircraft to select the proper option
file on the G1000 system software loader card. Follow the procedure below to load the files.
1. Remove the bottom SD cards from the displays. Note which one was removed from the MFD so
it may be identified later for reinsertion in the MFD when software and configuration loading are
complete. It might contain a FliteChart® or ChartView database which is only used in the MFD.
2. Insert the correct G1000 software loader card that matches the existing G1000 system software
version in the PFD top card slot.
3. Start the displays in configuration mode.
4. On the PFD, go to the System Upload Page using the small FMS knob.
5. Push the FMS knob to activate the cursor, then rotate the small FMS knob to display a drop-down
menu in the AIRFRAME field. Turn the small FMS knob to highlight OPTIONS in the menu
and press the ENT key.
